The motivation for TRENDS Global and the key principle guiding their ideas for research and engagement in diverse societies is that the empowerment of disadvantaged and underserved populations, transforms communities and strengthens societies.

In its partnership with Sovereignty First, TRENDS Global promotes the search for both localized and global strategies for resolving conflict by conducting research that will help resolve and transform interpersonal, societal and international conflict, and establishing global interdisciplinary research clusters and partnerships to analyze emerging social and political challenges and explore opportunities for constructively engaging current conflicts.

Volker Franke
PhD

Dr. Franke is Professor of Conflict Management at Kennesaw State University (KSU), the Founding Director of KSU’s PhD program in International Conflict Management, and the Founder and Executive Director of TRENDSGlobal. He specializes in the case study method of teaching and experiential learning, and regularly runs workshops and simulations. He has served as a part-time Visiting Professor with the Peacekeeping and Stability Operations Institute at the U.S Army War College in Carlisle, PA; Director of Research at the Bonn International Center for Conversion, one of Germany’s premier peace and conflict research and capacity building institutes; and Director and Managing Editor of the National Security Studies Case Studies Program at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. He has published widely on issues related to peace and security studies, conflict management, civil-military relations, development policy and social identity.
